Alnahas Plaza Hotel

The outside isn’t especially appealing, but the front desk staff were courteous and the rooms are spacious. For Irbid, this is about as good as it gets, and I’d stay here again if I’m back in town. Breakfast was included, though I had to leave early and didn’t get to try it.

There’s a 24/7 supermarket right outside and a good Falafel place next to it. The hotel is clean and conveniently near the University, while being off the noisy street. I’d choose a higher room with west-facing windows toward University st. for the lovely view. South-facing rooms have balconies, which would be nice in good weather.

At 8 in the morning, during the stated breakfast hours of 7:30 to 10 something, I went downstairs and found a guy asleep on the sofa and no breakfast in sight. I left and never looked back. The bathroom? See the attached picture. The night before, around midnight, we found a fresh blood stain on the bedsheets. Reception couldn’t speak English, and after three calls someone came up with an extra duvet. They saw the fresh blood and the other brownish and greenish stains but didn’t seem bothered. We eventually got new sheets, except they were wet, neatly folded and all. They only understood the problem when we made them touch them. As we dried them with the hairdryer, the one nice guy came back and offered another room. There was no sign of slaughter there, but we found dead insects and hairs under the pillow. We finished drying the sheets in our room and went to bed feeling miserable.

The location is excellent, and the staff are really friendly, especially Mr. Deyaa. Breakfast was nice too. The rooms could use an update.
