Ma'In Hot Springs

Just a note for people checking reviews: the resort and the hot springs are separate places, and lots of reviews seem to be posted under the wrong one. We had a good stay, though the hotel felt a bit worn in places, especially the rooms. It gave the impression of a once-luxurious 5-star resort that hadn’t had enough attention for a decade. We visited in early December, when there were only about 6 other groups in the whole hotel despite there being lots of staff, so the place felt empty at times. Our family suite was large, had a great view, and was nice, though it needed some attention. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the pool, heated by nearby hot springs, was nice. The breakfast and dinner buffets were incredible, with a wide range of local and global food. Chefs explained the dishes, and there were stations where they made omelettes, pasta, pancakes, flatbread, and more to order. For Ma'in hot springs, where you can go under the waterfall, I’d recommend going after 10pm. At the resort there’s a waterfall, but you can only use the pool beneath it, not go under the falls. We were told locals have to leave after 10pm and it’s then only resort guests. There was just one other group, and we had an incredible time exploring pools, relaxing in the thermal water, and getting blasted by waterfalls, which felt like a warm massage. Those facilities were a bit run down too, but still fun to visit. I’d recommend staying here if you’re after a quiet retreat, want to visit the hot springs and waterfalls, and are willing to spend a little. But if you want a 5-star resort, this isn’t it. The facilities are good, though they lack the finish of a 5-star place.
