Amra Palace International Hotel

The food was okay, but nothing more, and the service fell below expectations. The desk was left unattended, so guests had to go up and down the stairs to do things staff should have handled. There’s a pool, but it was far too cold to use, and the hot tub was green with algae and seemed like a possible health hazard. The Turkish bath is closed and now just a workshop. The rooms are old and falling apart, the plumbing is poor, and the AC only heats, it doesn’t cool. You can see what this place could be, but it doesn’t meet that potential. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was fine, nicely furnished, and had a great view. I liked that the pool was cold. The inside design was spectacular, and the breakfast was good. Dinner was fine too, though water wasn’t included. The staff weren’t very socially involved, but they did their job. Great location.

The rooms are small, and the shower didn’t work properly. You can only pay in cash, not by card. The lady serving breakfast and dinner was really rude and not very helpful, and the breakfast was the worst we had in Jordan. Water isn’t included. It is a nice hotel with an indoor swimming pool.

Breakfast was okay, but the only coffee was stale instant coffee in an open bowl, which was a shame since jordan coffee is delicious. The place feels very run down and shabby. My room had quaint furnishings but needed maintenance. The TV didn’t work at first, and although a kind man fixed it quickly, neither remote worked afterward, so I had to unplug it to switch it off. The shower adapter was jammed shut; when I finally got the shower going, the water was lukewarm and then cold. After a dusty day in Petra, that was disappointing. There was no drinking water, tea, or coffee in the room, and the heater was fixed at 25 degrees, so opening the window was the only option despite the noise outside. I stayed one night on a tour and noticed the fire door at the end of the hall was sealed shut, with no fire extinguishers or exit signs. The fire sensor in the room was empty. With the obvious lack of maintenance, I think a fire would be catastrophic. This place could be so good with a proper clean and some repairs.
