Petra Lion Hotel

Dinner with the family, good conversations with the parents, and fun with the kids made this a lovely local experience. They were so kind and generous, a real example of Jordanian hospitality. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a view over Wadi Musa, and the shops and restaurants in town were nearby. There was a tiny shower problem, but they fixed it right away. We’re grateful for the stay.

We spent time chatting with the family in their living room over the tea they offered us several times. They were funny and great company, and we talked about religion, cultural differences, and all sorts of other things. The Petra Lion Hotel is family run, the prices are very cheap, and the room had AC and everything else we wanted. Definitely recommend it.

We showed up around 2:00 AM without a reservation, and they took us in straight away. That 24/7 availability was a real help. The rest of the stay was disappointing, though. The room had no shower curtain, the commode tank had no top, the flush barely worked, and the bathroom door was in bad shape. The AC hardly worked, though fortunately the weather was manageable. There was confusion over whether breakfast was included. It wasn’t clearly stated when booking, and we only learned on arrival that it wasn’t. The breakfast itself wasn’t worth the extra cost. When we raised the issue, the staff, especially the manager, responded harshly and unprofessionally instead of handling it courteously. For the same rate, you can find better service and quality at higher-rated hotels nearby. The late check-in was appreciated, but the value and service didn’t justify the price.

We had dinner at the hotel and a great time with the local Jordanian family. The owner cooks wonderfully, and all the hotel staff were lovely. I’d suggest staying here if you want a local experience. Thank you! 🙏🏻
