Al Sultana Luxury Camp

The cabin was basic but a decent size, and the beds were soft and comfortable. The camp itself looks old and could use better upkeep. Showering was uncomfortable because the water kept switching temperatures, and I’d have felt more secure if the window locked. WiFi didn’t work in our cabin, though it was fast at reception. Breakfast and dinner were average, with dry meat, although the breakfast omelette was good. Drinks at dinner cost far too much, and the staff didn’t seem very pleasant.

The staff were the highlight, from reception to the restaurant, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived after sunset, and they waited so we could see them lift the zarb meal out of the ground. The meat was delicious. With few guests at the camp because of the current situation, they still put together a small buffet with a few main dishes, soup, salad, and desserts. Our room was quite good, the bed super comfortable, and the internet worked fine. The one downside was the shower leaking water onto the floor. It happened in two rooms, so it might affect others too. The camp is easy to reach and has amazing views.

The only drawback for me was the lack of electric kettles. Otherwise, it’s a fascinating camp surrounded by hills in every direction, right in the middle of the desert, with distinctive rooms and all the amenities.

Rami at the front desk looked after us from beginning to end and made sure we had everything we needed. The rooms and camp were amazing, and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. It was a great experience.
