Palmera was perfect, and we hadn’t expected to find such a luxurious place in the middle of nowhere in the desert. The rooms and food were amazing, and the staff made us feel so welcome. Ehsan, the barista, was wonderful and made our evening even better. I first thought he was a manager. Thanks, Palmera, we’re looking forward to coming back soon! We visited Wadi Rum at the end of January, and couldn’t have chosen a better time. It’s an amazing place, so cinematic and fantastic.

The camp is tucked away, so it feels peaceful and serene. Stargazing was amazing, and the teens had things to do in the game room and at the jacuzzi and pool. The accommodation is gorgeous, even prettier in person. I was nervous about glamping, but it was well worth it.

We did the sunset tour on the way in and were glad we did, though it felt a bit like a Disney ride. Jeeps zipped from one stop to the next across the desert: climbing a sandbank, peeking into a gorge, looking at a “spring,” and finally sitting on a chosen mountaintop for sunset. We spent two nights and were glad we stayed that long. There isn’t much to do, especially in November when it wasn’t pool weather, but it’s a lovely place to relax. You can walk from camp or get a guide for 150 dinar. The setting is stunning, and we had a beautiful, peaceful day taking in the views. The camp is designed stylishly to fit the natural surroundings. Open the curtains in the morning and it feels like a postcard. Ahsan, who runs the cafe, is charming. He taught us oldies how to take fantastic pictures of the stars on our phones. He also makes what people call “the best coffee in Jordan,” and in our experience it really was. Dinner is included in the room rate. It’s a generous buffet, with meat and vegetables cooked specially in a fire pit. It’s not haute cuisine, but it’s tasty. We brought our own wine, since, like the other camps, they don’t sell alcohol.

The sights are fantastic, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. If you’re in Jordan, you have to come here. And a big thanks to Ehsan, the barista, such an amazing guy who made our stay enjoyable and unforgettable!

Eshan was especially attentive to my family and me, and the whole staff were amazing. The camp itself is beautiful and outstanding. They gave us a luxury experience that still felt authentic and down to earth. I didn’t expect much from the food in the middle of the desert, but it was a pleasant surprise and really good. I’d absolutely return and recommend the camp to family and friends.
