Wadi Rum itself is beautiful and absolutely worth visiting. The activities and service at Shaheen felt careless and routine, though, so the stay was underwhelming. I imagine Shaheen is probably much like the other camps around there.

The rooms were tidy and the AC worked just right. Everyone was so welcoming, and the food was fresh, clean, and really good. When we asked to chill our water bottle, they brought us a large cold one for free instead. Such hospitable people, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I’m already excited to spend another night here on October 15th, especially for that rice! Getting to camp was fun, speeding across the desert, and the place itself is adorable. If the upgrade fits your budget, the Martian tent is really cute. Dinner was a special Jordanian dish, meat and rice cooked in an oven underground. I don’t eat meat, but that rice was so good I could live on it 😁

Getting there was a little tricky, but after I contacted the owner, Abu Ali, he arranged help and we reached the camp easily. The Wadi Rum setting was amazing, and Mustafa took us on a great tour. Our rooms were wonderful, too. Chef Mohamed made delicious, authentic Arabic food, and everyone was very hospitable.

It’s good value, and the food was just okay. There was too much light to really enjoy the stars, and the music was loud. Getting there can be difficult unless someone from the camp meets you at the main road.
