For a cycling tourist on a budget, this worked out perfectly: 2,800 yen a night for a private Japanese-style room, fast Wi-Fi, and staff who speak English. There was also a coin-operated washer and dryer for 450 yen. The bathroom had an odor, but it wasn't too bad. I showered and didn't use the bath. I'd skip the breakfast option, since all I got was a 200 ml carton of milk. Still, it was a pleasant stay.

Just a simple, family-run Japanese-style guesthouse, clean and friendly, with a convenient location. Nothing about it felt creepy or dumpy. It was perfect for what I needed, and I wish I could stay in places like this all the time on my bike trip around Japan.

At ¥2'800 per person, it was good value. The owner speaks English, and Wi-Fi is free.

The mama was so kind. The Japanese-style rooms were quiet and clean.
