There’s a lovely pond behind the place, and the relaxation area is really spacious. I had a great time as a tattooed traveler from Australia. The onsen has jet baths, a sauna, and a cold plunge pool. A few men were chatting, which was nice. Soap and shampoo are supplied, and 550 yen per adult is good value. It’s easy to reach from the highway. They don’t usually let people with tattoos in, but after talking it over, the clerk let me buy a day pass today. That was very generous, since most places refuse entry. I’d rather be upfront than sneak in without saying anything. It’s important to respect both the culture and the business.

The onsen is included, and there’s a cafe serving dinner and breakfast. I stayed for one night on my o Henro pilgrimage and really enjoyed it. The room was clean, with a TV, safe, refrigerator, and its own bathroom and toilet. There are also coin-operated washing machines and massage chairs you can use for a fee.

I can’t tell what makes this water so special, maybe lithium? Whatever it is, a soak made me feel more than just relaxed like at a usual onsen. It made me HAPPY. Wonderful water!

The place is a bit old, but the baths and sauna are clean and well looked after. The sauna heat feels just right, and the cold bath uses chilled hot spring water, which is lovely. Going back and forth between the two lets you enjoy the hot spring’s benefits. I sometimes stop in just for the sauna. From around 4pm, local regulars fill the place and there’s plenty of lively conversation. If you’re shy or visiting for the first time, it might feel a little intimidating, but you can really sense the locals’ warmth. On arrival, you leave your car keys and valuables with the facility and get a locker key. I had the champon set for dinner and thought it was well worth the price. It has the feel of a traditional hot spring facility, and I’d recommend it to sauna fans.
