Aioi Station Hotel Annex

The hotel is clean, and the staff are friendly enough to brighten your day or evening. Its restaurant serves tasty food at affordable prices, which helps since there aren't many other options nearby. English speakers should be fine here. At 5000 yen, the price feels a bit high for Japan, but it's convenient if you're in the area for business.

It's very close to the station, and they serve European-style breakfast every day alongside Japanese food.

The room was spotless, which I appreciated. The staff, though, left me with a bad impression on this second stay. I checked in at 10 pm and got no welcome or greeting from the elderly woman at reception unless I spoke first. The service felt cold. At breakfast, I was again the one who had to say good morning to the two women working there. While the buffet was being set out, they went into the kitchen. As soon as we, the only customers, sat down, they came back out and chatted while looking over at us, then kept talking as we ate. It made for a really unpleasant meal, and they could have been more considerate. My first stay hadn't been too bad, so I gave the hotel another try, but this visit gave me plenty to think about before coming back. The location near Aioi Station is convenient, and parking wasn't an issue.

The room was cleaned very thoroughly. I'd only been there a week, but when I came back the woman at reception handed me my key without needing to ask which room I was in. That's the kind of service a hotel should learn from Sabae So-and-so.
