Cheap! Great price.

After riding around Kinko Bay in the rain, I got here at 6pm. My small non-smoking room was on the 4 Floor and had a mountain view. Breakfast was included in the 6050¥ price. The staff let me bring my bicycle up to the room after I wiped it dry.

Breakfast starts at 6am, which is handy if you’re a rider who wants to get on the road early, before it gets busy. AZ Hotel is popular and affordable in Kyushu, and I think it’s good value even though the facilities and reception service aren’t top-notch. There aren’t any restaurants or convenience stores nearby, but across the highway there’s a supermarket/home center where you can get alcohol and bento boxes. In the room, the Wi-Fi felt a bit weak and didn’t require a password, and there were no ceiling lights. I’d hoped to leave my motorcycle under the emergency staircase landing to keep it out of the rain, but that wasn’t possible because I wouldn’t have been able to get it out if I parked there.

April 30, 2026 On my Japan trip by foot and bicycle, I picked AZ because I could bring my bike into the room. I’d looked for somewhere in Kirishima City with shelter from the wind and rain, like covered bike parking under an eave, since strong winds were expected the next day, but couldn’t find anything. There were several inexpensive places to stay in the city. Yahoo occasionally has a 1000 yen coupon, so this time I went for the buffet dinner. I’m usually not keen on buffets because I don’t eat much, but now I’m cycling around 10 hours every day, the variety really works for me. The all-you-can-drink alcohol option for just over 1200 yen is a good deal too, though I didn’t drink. For breakfast, I personally would’ve liked cereal and milk.
