The hosts were so kind, and they even drove me to the nearest train station the next day. I got a huge room with everything I needed, plus a full dinner and breakfast, for around $63 for the night. The food was amazing.

I was really relieved they had room for me during the long weekend. I called while struggling to find somewhere to stay for the Lake Biwa Biennale 2025, and they let me book two nights. The elderly couple's dinner and breakfast were delicious, and I went back for seconds. The owner was very straightforward, which made me feel at ease. The building is a little dated inside and out, but it has a shared bath and all the basics, including towels, shampoo, and toothbrushes. I'd happily stay again next time I'm in Omihachiman. 🙇😊
I booked through a travel website while looking for somewhere to stay around Higashiomi. The couple who run the inn were so welcoming, and I'm grateful for their hospitality. I'd stay here again if I get the chance.
We came back with a different group, this time mostly people close to 70, for the 6,000 yen all-you-can-drink course, tax included. The eel, chawanmushi, and Japanese sweets from our previous visit weren't included, but there was plenty for our older group, and we had a lovely time during the day. It's a real hidden gem, and the ride to the station was much appreciated. On our earlier visit, there were about 20 of us. We went through the restaurant to a banquet room at the back and had the 7,000 yen course with drinks, tax included. The eel was delicious, and the portions were generous, as the photo shows. The low tables and chairs were comfortable, and there was enough room between seats to move around and pour sake. The dishes were carefully made, so it felt like good value. It suits an affordable business dinner or a casual get-together with friends. The traditional ryokan has a retro Showa-era feel.
Staying several nights here has a calm, restful feel, and makes me want to come back. For just one night without meals, though, you might be disappointed that the bath is in a separate building on the second floor.
