Onyado Toho（ORIX HOTELS & RESORTS）

The traditional Japanese room was a special experience for us, with a fantastic mountain view from the window. The hotel is charming and distinctly Japanese, though it isn't luxurious or brand new. This was the highlight of our trip and gave us the sort of local, non-touristy experience people usually hear about from locals. The onsens were clean and spacious, with a fantastic city view. We loved the food. There was so much to choose from, and every meal felt like a happy surprise: handmade sushi, salads, soups, stews, different side dishes, and maybe eight kinds of dessert. The buffet was freshly made, local, and authentic. The hotel is too far from the city to walk, so we used the free shuttle. There are also pleasant nearby places to walk to, including a foot hot spring and a small temple.

After a long travel day, we had a peaceful, comfortable night at Onyado Toho as we started exploring the Aizu region. Our room was warm, clean, and cosy, with comfortable beds that let us rest well. The onsen was a relaxing way to wind down, and the facilities were well maintained. Staff stayed polite and welcoming throughout. It's a convenient, quiet stop for visiting Aizu or passing through.

The onsen views were lovely, and I liked that one bath had a mist sauna while the other had a dry sauna and cold plunge. The buffet was good quality too. We booked a room in the tower and had great views from there as well ❤️ I relaxed really well and had a great stay 😌. The only downside was the very thin futon. I wish there had been a cushion or something to make it more comfortable.

The rooms are spacious, new, and have what you need. Ours was a great fit for a family of five. There are two huge onsens, with indoor and outdoor areas and a sauna, and they alternate between men and women each day. The resort also has a souvenir shop, banquet hall, and dining hall. Parking is free on site. If it fills up, staff direct you to a nearby lot and pick you up after you leave your car. The buffet features local specialties, and the dishes were good, but breakfast and dinner were the same each day. After two days, it felt repetitive. One night is great, and two is about the limit for me. It felt like a genuine local Japanese experience, and many Japanese people stay here when they travel.
