My first time in Akita ken, and so far, so good. The food was amazing, the room was clean and Japanese-style, with a tatami bed, toilet, and sink. The onsen was good too. It was very cheap, including two meals.

The room was traditional Japanese style, and there’s an onsen. Meals are available if you choose them, though I didn’t try them myself. The train station isn’t close enough for a comfortable walk. There’s a curfew, and they keep your room key if you go out for the night. The public bath also closes pretty early, so you can’t use it late. Wi-Fi was nonexistent in my room, which was at the far end of the hallway from the lift lobby. I wouldn’t come back or recommend it, even for one night.

I spent about two weeks here on a business trip. Dinner changed each day, but breakfast was the same daily, with only a small side dish varying, such as rice with natto, miso soup, or grilled salmon. The side dishes at both meals were prepared in advance and served cold. If you don’t mind what you eat and just want meals without having to think about them, that may suit you. If you want something tasty, skip the meals and eat nearby. The bathroom was especially bad. There was black mold everywhere, on the walls, shower head, hose, and everything else. It was so dirty I couldn’t bring myself to clean it properly. I just gave it a light wipe with a towel, and that was enough to make it usable again. It simply hadn’t been cleaned.

We drove here with our infant and two-year-old. Parking was free, breakfast and dinner were included, and we could bathe morning and evening in the large public bath. Even with three futons, the Japanese-style room was spacious, all for this price. Great value! The building is old and doesn’t have the atmosphere of a hot spring resort, but we were extremely satisfied. All the staff were very kind, and there was a baby chair in the women’s bath, so I could relax in the bath with our infant. We’re very grateful. Dinner was delicious, including sashimi, tempura, firefly squid, and kiritanpo. Thank you very much!

It was busy even though we stayed on a Saturday. The room had plenty of space and was well equipped, with a refrigerator, though it didn’t cool very well. There was parking and shops nearby, and children had free meals from a luxurious menu. Kids’ yukata robes were available too. An extra futon cost 1,000 yen, which was cheap.
