I booked a cheap bed for one night on my trip and was surprised by how much bigger the place was than I expected. The staff were really nice, and the service was great. They let me check in early and lent me a phone charger, which saved my trip. I liked the food and my Japanese-style room (Japanese-style room). There are various facilities nearby, plus an Akita-themed souvenir shop. It’s hard to reach on foot, but it’s a really nice place.
I’d recommend it for a day trip to the onsen. The public bath was amazing, with great facilities and water at just the right temperature. Dinner and breakfast were both served, and the food was great. The staff were friendly and polite, and the price was pretty good. The room felt a little old, but the property seems intended more for people using the bath without booking a room. There’s a small shop in the hall with souvenirs and snacks for when you get hungry at night.
The food was great, and when I called about a guest who couldn’t eat meat but could have fish, they readily adjusted the menu. There was also a cute robot that danced to AKB48’s fortune cookie. I enjoyed the hotel, though I’m not sure why the pool was closed.
The bedrock bath was too cool for me, and I can see why so few people visit. The bath and sauna are spacious and nice, and having them directly connected to the pool is a novel idea. The location was disappointing. I wish it were closer to Akita city, which takes more than 30 minutes to reach by car.
It’s a hot spring accommodation tucked away in the mountains. On the day you stay, you can use the facilities from opening time at 10am. The daily rest area is free to use until check-in at 2pm, and there’s a restaurant on site for lunch.
