There’s reliable Wi-Fi, and the room is clean and has what you need, despite the hotel being quite old. A lovely beach is nearby, with sea turtles around and good snorkeling. Just be careful, since there may be rip currents.

A couple of beaches are close by, and the room has good views. The staff were kind and helpful, too. The hotel has clearly been weathered by island life, and that well-used, historic feel actually made it seem rather wonderful. You’ll need a hire car to explore the north of the island, where there’s a lot to see in any kind of weather. It was excellent value, and I’d definitely return.

I went in the off-season and found it a great place to unwind. The staff were great, and the Japanese breakfast was quite good.

You can rent bikes for a fee, and the beach is close. The pool had nice, groovy music playing. The toilet paper was surprisingly cheap, though, and the fanciness felt pretentious. Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby.

My partner and I stayed for two nights and three days, starting on Wednesday. From the room, we had a great view of the pool and the Amami ocean, and the sunrises were beautiful too. Service was great, and all the food was delicious. The hotel is also close to the airport. There are various tours, and we especially loved snorkeling and canoeing through the mangrove forests. I’d definitely go again and recommend it for a stay on Amami Oshima.
