The free washer and dryer on the top floor were a real plus. I was on a road trip around Tokushima Prefecture and stayed in Anan City, and I liked this place more than the reviews led me to expect. It has a rural feel, a roomy parking lot, and rooms on the second and third floors. The stairs to the first floor were easy to use, and the hotel felt neither too small nor too big. My Rakuten Travel special-plan booking didn’t feel especially special. The room itself had the basics I expected, almost like a student dorm: a large bed, desk, refrigerator and hair dryer. WiFi was decent, and there were several outlets by the bed. The swipe-style room key stays with each guest until checkout. I had no major problems. The smoking room didn’t smell unpleasant, and the odor didn’t get into my clothes. The drawbacks were the lack of a washlet and the fuss of mixing hot and cold water at the tap to get the temperature right.

The place was clean, and the receptionist was very polite. A washlet and a mirror would make it perfect.

The location worked out really well: Lawson, Family Mart, Sukiya, and Komedas Coffee are all about a three-minute walk away. There’s also a large hot spring nearby, and McDonald’s is roughly a 15-minute walk. I found the stay very affordable. When I extended, a staff member suggested making a new reservation on the website, which brought the price down by 1,000 yen per day. The washing machines and dryers are free to use, though detergent costs 60 yen.

For the price, this was about average for a budget business hotel. The station is around a 10-minute walk away, with a supermarket and convenience store about five minutes away, which was handy. The room was a decent size and didn’t feel cramped. The shower pressure stayed steady, there were six outlets (one already in use), the lights had a remote, and the refrigerator was a useful single-person size for a longer stay. A few things were less comfortable. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are narrow. There’s no bidet seat either. I stayed in January, and cold air came through gaps, so I couldn’t turn off the air conditioner. It made the room dry, and warm pajamas were necessary.
