Anan Plaza Inn

The little sento was spotless, and free parking was a big bonus. The hotel itself is clean and sits in a great area with plenty of cafes and restaurants. The staff are as welcoming and helpful as other reviewers say, including to foreigners. It’s simple, but for the value, I can’t beat this place. Probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan.

I missed the check-in time after running into trouble on a motorcycle tour, but the staff kindly worked with me. The large public bath was closed, yet I could still use it comfortably. They helped me sort out my problems, and I’m glad I picked this hotel. I’d stay here again if I get the chance. Thanks so much.

The room was fine, and I really appreciated having breakfast included. The rice was tasty, though I couldn’t work out where to find the chopsticks, spoons and plates. I was also baffled by the copy machine the first time I tried it, until an older woman explained how it worked. I was here on a business trip, and the smoking room had a strong cigarette smell. I wish they’d at least tried to deodorize it.

With few other guests around the day after the holidays, I could relax. The public bath and sauna were clean, and having a cold bath there was great. Breakfast was tasty too. There were several kinds of natto, plus raw and boiled eggs, which I thought was a nice selection.
