I visited for a day trip to the hot springs, and the price was cheap at 500 yen. The water was clear with a brownish tint and tasted salty. Apparently, the minerals were too concentrated for bathing, so they added water and heated it. It’s a large, spacious inn in Isobe Onsen with a nice view, but otherwise there’s nothing particularly special about it. I don’t think children would enjoy it. It’s a little away from the hot spring town and is the inn farthest from the station, so it’s a good option if you’re traveling by car. As the photos I uploaded show, it closed in December 2019, which is a shame.

The staff were nice, but the age of the building and the disappointing food brought my rating down. It has a strong Showa-era feel, though the building itself is quite old. The hot spring was neither good nor bad, just average, and it might be a little small for the number of guests. Since we were in Gunma, I chose the Joshu beef course instead of the seafood course, but it was quite disappointing. To put it mildly, the food wasn’t good.

It’s an older hotel without the latest facilities, but the service was attentive. At the breakfast buffet, they put our food on a cart instead of a tray because we had children with us. It was a nice, considerate touch. The room felt old-fashioned and had a rather dated bathroom, but it was clean.

We were very happy with our stay as a large family, even though the place was neither especially good nor bad. The room was larger than we expected, around 10 to 15 tatami mats, so perhaps it happened to be available. The view isn’t great, but there are plenty of tourist spots nearby, which makes the inn convenient.

The hot spring was great, and the fresh tomato juice at breakfast was amazing. I drank six cups by myself. I stayed on a Saturday, so the price was high and I only booked breakfast. The breakfast dishes were set along the side instead of in the middle, which made things a little crowded and confusing, haha, but I still ate a lot. The room refrigerator was packed with juice, leaving no space for anything I’d bought. That was a bit disappointing.
