There’s a hotel here where you can stay and enjoy the views. Great service, food, atmosphere, and scenery, with local specialties prepared in all sorts of ways.

The marinated raw mackerel rice bowl, raw mackerel nigiri, and mackerel milt with ponzu were delicious. My wife had a gurnard tempura rice bowl. The two small pieces of tempura had plump, tasty fish. It had been a long time since I'd eaten raw mackerel, and its fatty flavor was so different from other fish. Absolutely delicious. Long live Choshi! Thanks for the meal. We got there just before 2 PM on 2025/12/6, after the lunch crowd had thinned. It was a warm, sunny day with no wind, so the terrace was perfect. We checked that dogs are allowed in the terrace seating area. They also offer accommodation and don't make a point of advertising that pets are allowed there, so it's hard to tell whether that's always permitted.

Dinner was generous. I had monkfish while the person next to me had pufferfish, and the view from the observation deck was spectacular. It was windy, but I slept well (lol).

I've had monkfish hotpot at plenty of restaurants, and this one was easy to eat because the miso flavor covered the fishy smell. The vegetables were really tasty, with the flavor soaked in. There wasn't much monkfish meat or liver, though. I went for lunch on a weekday. They had other dishes too, including pufferfish hotpot. The monkfish hotpot set cost 4,800 yen per person and came with an appetizer, miso sauce, monkfish liver, monkfish hotpot, pickles, rice porridge, and dessert.

We've returned many times to stay at the inn and eat at the restaurant when we come at the end of February to see Diamond Fuji. The location is excellent, with views to enjoy morning, noon, and night. The evening and nighttime scenery has appeared in magazines and on TV, so it's something of a local attraction. This was one of the first places at Cape Obi to run both a restaurant and guesthouse. Its detached cottage is spacious, making it a good option for families. Kids in particular can treat it like a secret hideout. For one person, though, the room feels a little too large. All the staff leave after 10pm, which makes me a bit uneasy in case something happens. The cypress bath isn't a hot spring, but it's still comfortable and relaxing. The menu mostly features local fish. My favorite is the finest mackerel course, which is wonderfully fresh and includes sashimi, marinated fish, boiled fish, and mackerel sushi. Mackerel can sometimes give me a stomach ache, but I've never had that problem here, so I can eat it without worry. Guests can also get tempura set meals, chirashi sushi, and pufferfish or monkfish hotpot. Lunch is available too, though seasonal limits on the fish sometimes make the menu feel smaller than expected. The service can be hit or miss depending on who’s working, as other reviews have said. I grew up in the countryside, so maybe little imperfections like that stand out more to visitors from the city. They don't particularly bother me, and as a repeat customer, I think the place is good enough.
