HOTEL R9 The Yard Asahishiro

My wife suggested we give this place a try, even though I had a lot of doubts at first. We were really surprised by the facilities and how big the room was. It's practical for an overnight stay with a small child, and the price is very reasonable.

I stayed on a weekday in March 2026 and found the room clean and comfortable, with no real problems aside from some noise when it was windy or raining. At check-in, between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM, you get a voucher for a frozen bento. There was a freezer in the room, so I could redeem it right away. Self-serve coffee, green tea, and black tea are at the front desk. The desk closes after 11:00 PM, and you can't check in then. There are no staff from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Many nearby restaurants close at 10:00 PM, and the closest convenience store is about a 6-minute walk away.

My first stay here, and the room was very clean and nice. Maybe because it's a container, it got too cold to sleep with the air conditioning off, so I left it running. It worked fine for a business trip.

The container rooms gave me peace of mind because I knew there weren't people behind the walls. It was also convenient to park right outside my room. The hotel was clean and good value. One small thing: getting locked out by the automatic lock in the middle of the night, with nobody at the front desk, was a little nerve-racking, haha.
