We finished two weeks of traveling around Japan here, and were really glad we did. The vegetarian breakfast request was handled well, and it was just right for us. We enjoy traditional onsens, but having a private cypress tub in our room was even better than I expected. Every detail feels carefully considered, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. If you can, booking extra nights here is well worth it.

After walking around Kyoto and Osaka each day, it was lovely to come back to the comfortable beds and the cypress bathtub. We spent eight nights here and enjoyed every minute. The room was immaculate, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It felt like Japanese hospitality at its best, and we’ll recommend the hotel to anyone we know visiting Japan.
We came to Kyoto for one night, then added another because we liked Kyoto Takasegawa Bettei so much. It’s a great base for exploring, and gives you the feel of a traditional Kyoto guest house without sleeping on a Tatami mat. Our room was beautiful and spacious, the staff were incredibly accommodating, and the beds were so comfortable. The private bath was a dream. I can’t imagine a better place for our Kyoto trip, and I’ll stay here again when I come back.
The location was excellent, tucked away on a quiet little street between houses with a stream in front, but still easy to get around. There’s a 7-Eleven and Family Mart nearby, along with a few cute bars and restaurants. The room was pretty uncomfortable, with a Japanese toilet and wooden bathtub, though the beds were incredibly comfortable. I liked the thoughtful extras too: beautiful robes, L’Occurane bath products, a tea kettle with lovely cups and saucers, and an espresso maker. The staff were warm and friendly. I loved my stay.
I keep coming back to this hotel whenever I visit Kyoto, and the breakfast is a big reason why. It’s simply divine. The staff go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, and there are great restaurants nearby, plus a cute sake bar right outside. It’s also only a 15-minute walk from the main train station. Inside, everything feels cozy and carefully prepared, from the spotless rooms and the peaceful cypress tub to the incense in the halls, little candies, and green tea. I was blown away again. Thank you for another excellent stay! :)
