Atami means a fair bit of walking on steep hills wherever you stay, and this house is no different. That was fine for us, but check the location and make sure the hills work for you before booking. We came in July 2023 and loved the house. The main attraction for our family was being able to use the private onsen together. Even the bathroom tub was supplied with hot spring water, which was fun.

We arrived for a planned five night stay and cancelled that same day. The place was poorly maintained and unclean, with broken Sochi screens and an outdoor kitchen we couldn't use. Service was unfriendly, a tank right outside my window clanged very loudly, and the doors to the outside didn't lock. At around $150USD a night, it felt pricey. They committed to refunding me, but I still haven't received one. Travellers, beware.

It's a great experience overall, and close to the JR station. Just be aware there's only one bathroom, and shower or onsen use has to be reserved for a specific time slot, with access ending at 11 pm.

The room had a bright white design and a balcony, and the place was convenient for getting to ATAMI STATION. Atami Onsen Guest house is simple, with an exclusive hot spring. I thought the ambiance was nice and the cost was low. If you're coming to Atami to relax, I'd recommend it.

The old wooden architecture is beautiful, with modern fixtures inside. It felt a lot bigger than I expected, and the cost performance was fantastic. I was really impressed.
