Richard and the woman whose name I can’t remember took excellent care of us. Richard speaks very good English and Japanese, helped with travel advice and taxis, and was a big reason we enjoyed the stay. The relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to slip into vacation mode, though the property is on a steep slope and a little removed from everything. We stayed in the third-floor apartment, which is the best choice for enjoying the hot spring. The rooms are quite DIY, but very clean, and the view is nice, with some electrical cables partly in the way. I’d describe the place as a Bed & Breakfast rather than a hotel. The room quality, difficult parking entrance, and mediocre breakfast made me consider a lower rating, but we still had a nice stay.

The private onsen was a lovely way to relax after a long day walking, and the suite had plenty of space, amenities, and a well-preserved retro style. From high up on the mountain, we could see the ocean, Atami Castle, and nearby Hatsujima. The surrounding terrain is lush and mountainous around the beach, Ginza area, and ocean. Taxis to and from Ginza are needed, but very affordable. Richard picked us up at Atami station with another couple and was incredibly kind, knowledgeable about the area, and helpful. The staff also drove us back to the station when we were ready to leave. Breakfast was cute and light, just right to get something in our stomachs before the next part of our adventure. We had a comfortable, high-quality stay for one special night with my partner, and I’d come back.

We felt at home here and would definitely return on another visit to Atami. We stayed in the Deluxe suite, which was cozy and luxurious, with ocean and castle views. There’s a private onsen-style bath, and after a long day it was lovely to relax in it. The bathroom has two toilets and all the basics, from toothbrushes and skincare to shampoo, shower gel, and a hairdryer. The living area has a large smart TV, a small bar counter with hot and cold water, and a coffee machine, plus a microwave and large fridge. There’s also a relaxing massage chair, and the Wi-Fi was stable and fast. Staff were very helpful with local recommendations.

The room was spacious and relaxing, felt clean, and came with an amazing view. Breakfast was just right. If you don’t have a car, you can take a cab up or get a lift into town from the staff, which was really nice.

The location made it easy to get around local attractions and restaurants, and the bath and bed were well maintained. Netflix was great too. Staff were welcoming and attentive, and the spacious, clean, nicely decorated room had everything I needed. I appreciated the care in the decor and service, and had a relaxing, enjoyable stay. Maybe we’ll catch the fireworks from the room with the castle view next time!!!!!😙😙😙
