Kamenoi Hotel Atami

We had a nice dinner and breakfast buffet, and the family room had both Japanese-style futons and a Western-style area. It's a nice family hotel, newly renovated in 2025.

I took a chance on this hotel because it had recently reopened after refurbishment, and there weren't many other places to choose from in Atami during the fireworks. I had noticed its Google score was below 4. The room still felt a little old, but it was acceptable. I chose one with a direct sea view, so I could watch the fireworks from my balcony, and that worked out well. The dinner, which they started offering after the refurbishment, was delicious and felt worth the price, especially by the window as night came on. Breakfast had plenty of choices, though the buffet was crowded throughout. The Onsen didn't stand out to me. I don't know what the hotel was like before the work, but I'd say it's a worthwhile option for fireworks days. At other times, there are quite a few alternatives.

The facilities are old, though the stay itself was okay. The shuttle bus booking was a hassle. The website said to reserve a ride from Atami Station, but only gave a phone number. I emailed and got no reply, so we tried our luck at the station. There were lots of people waiting for a mini bus. The driver crossed his arms when we spoke to him, didn't know English, and still couldn't understand after we used Google Translate. In the end, only three seats were left for us, and the other four in our group had to take a taxi. If we'd known, we would have taken the taxi from the start. It was only 2000 Yen. At check-in we tried to book the shuttle for the next morning, but were told it was full, so we ordered another taxi. If you're staying here, you may want a friend who speaks Japanese to call and reserve the bus. I'd just take a taxi, since the bus doesn't have luggage space.

I really liked the big terrace! I had the hotel names mixed up, though, so I'm correcting my rating now.
