The team was excellent, and the wine list was good. This is one of the most beautiful western style ryokan we've stayed in. The food could use a bit of an update.

The room had its own hot spring and looked out over Mt. Fuji. There seemed to be more staff than guests, and the place felt like heaven on earth. I hadn't imagined somewhere like this existed, so I understand why it costs an arm and a leg. As a westerner, I liked the western food more than the Japanese option. If they ask which you'd prefer, I'd steer clear of the Japanese food unless you're already into it.

The French dinner and breakfast were fabulous, and the place is beautiful. It's not a typical Onsen ryokan. If you're after a traditional Japanese inn, this won't be for you. But for a private, relaxing atmosphere and excellent French food, it's a lovely place to visit.

The late checkout is unusual for an Onsen hotel, which was nice. The views are stunning, and the hotel is great. It mostly serves French cuisine, a pretty distinctive choice for this kind of place.
