I could see a beautiful sunrise after a walk of less than 10 minutes, and the guesthouse is close to the coast. The room I stayed in was large enough for four people, but it only had one electrical outlet. The kitchenware wasn't well maintained, either. The common areas felt crowded, with lots of things in the kitchen and shared spaces. There are many rooms on each floor, and there is no lift, just steep stairs, so travel light. The bathroom is in the basement of another building. I wasn't keen on bathing there anyway. I added a photo of it. The owner doesn't speak English.

The food was great, with Awaji beef hot pot for dinner on the first night and hamo shabu shabu, another local specialty, on the second. The staff were helpful and even went out of their way to get us Wi-Fi. We stayed in the separate dog-friendly annex, which felt like having the whole place to ourselves, a bit like an Airbnb. It had a Japanese-style room with futon, a small kitchen, bath, and toilet. It was basic but did the job, so don't expect service. The room had an odd smell, like smoke mixed with air freshener. There were ashtrays in every room, even the toilet, so I'm pretty sure that was the cause. I'd say it's good as long as you know what to expect.

The reservation details didn't match what we were promised. We were supposed to rent the whole building, but instead got a room shared with staff. That felt clearly fraudulent. We called three times to ask for a receipt, but no one brought it, so we had to go get it ourselves. The room smelled awful and hadn't been cleaned. Dust and hair were everywhere, the dishes were so dirty I didn't even want to use them, and an employee had used the bathroom. The bathtub and changing room were still wet. There wasn't one good thing about the stay. I'll never use it again.

The food really impressed me. Everything was incredibly tasty, from the superb sashimi and grilled fish to the simmered fish head. Even the sea cucumber in vinegar served as an appetizer was excellent, and the miso soup was delicious too.

My partner and I stayed in the annex around May. The room had a calm, familiar feel, like my grandmother's house, and I liked it. There's a caretaker on duty all the time, so you do need to be a little careful. The meals were plentiful and very satisfying. The proprietress made a sea bream dish at our request, and it was delicious. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes seafood. The restaurant in the annex is far away and you need a car to get there, which was inconvenient. On the plus side, there's a nearby lounge where you can sing karaoke and have drinks. I'd like to stay again ^_^
