I love this place. It may look old and dated, but it’s very well maintained. Bath entry is free when you stay at the hotel, and it isn’t crowded at all. The location isn’t great unless you’re driving.

The gift shop was well stocked, and the front desk and dining staff were warm and attentive. Dinner and breakfast, as you’d expect at a traditional Japanese restaurant, had plenty of locally sourced ingredients and were incredibly delicious. There were a lot of day-trippers at certain times, which made it hard for me to relax as an overnight guest, though that may be necessary for the business.

I’m local, but this was my first time visiting the onsen for a day trip. The bath had a lovely old Showa-era feel, and I had it almost to myself, so I could really relax. The price was very reasonable by today’s standards. The woman at the counter greeted me with a smile throughout, and I was genuinely impressed by this friendly, homey inn. I’d definitely come again.
