The room was large and comfortable, but checking in was a hassle. The hotel is owned by a third party, so I’d suggest contacting them before your arrival. They hadn’t sent me the check-in instructions. I reached out through Agoda, and the hotel told me to call a local number, but I had no local number or roaming service to make calls or receive them. Luckily, someone from the nearby café helped us call. After several hours of trying Agoda customer service, the hotel and the local number, I was finally able to get into the apartment building. I used the iPad there to contact customer service and check in. The building has four units, and we got one on the second floor with no elevator. My husband and I had to carry our two big suitcases up ourselves 😂

We stayed at J Stay Beppu and found it really convenient when driving around Beppu. Self check-in was simple and went smoothly.

We really liked this place: it was simple, clean, and easy to get to, just a few minutes on foot from Beppu train station. The apartment has four units across two floors and has recently been renovated. It’s in a residential area rather than near town, and there’s no lift, so it may be difficult for older guests using wheelchairs. Strongly recommend.

Check-in still isn’t working properly and it’s a mess. There’s also nowhere to leave your luggage.

The location is a real plus, and check-in was very easy. The apartment was clean and modern.
