A friend’s Japanese wife, who used to live in Beppu, recommended this ryokan, and I’m glad we booked it. Our room was spacious, with a private onsen and bathing area. At reception there was complimentary juice, coffee, tea and beer. The staff were friendly and accommodating: they let us leave our bags on the property at 8am before check-in, then brought them to our room. The grounds have a villa-like feel. We didn’t regret choosing it, and I highly recommend it.
