The first four nights of our six-day, five-night stay went well. Our room was spacious and the location very good. They had luggage storage before check-in and after checkout, a shared kitchen and free drinks. But there was no elevator, the Wi-Fi was slow, and the thin walls let you hear people talking. Light sleepers should be aware. The final night was awful. At 22:14 someone knocked and said we were making noise, though we didn't think we were. We went straight to bed. At 2:42 a.m. that person returned, banging and kicking our door, accusing us of being noisy while we were asleep. We woke up shocked and couldn't get back to sleep. We called reception at 2:50 a.m. for help, but they said they couldn't do anything until morning. Then we heard the neighbor calling reception too. At 3:14 a.m. reception called us back, saying the next-door guest had complained that we kept talking nonstop until morning. We said we had been asleep, and the receptionist just replied, “Ah, sorry, I think there was a misunderstanding.” We tried to sleep again at 7:00 a.m., but the neighbor banged on the wall and woke us up once more. Really a nightmare.

We'd definitely stay again when visiting beppu. The room was clean and spacious, parking was ample, and the place is right next to donki for shopping. The front desk guy was so friendly and offered us a better deal on a room that suited us more than the one we'd booked. There was plenty in the common areas: free soft drinks around the clock, books, colored pencils for kids, computers with iconic video games, a fully equipped kitchen and lots of local information. Superb hostel!

Tucked down an alley just opposite Beppu Tower, this place is surrounded by food spots and izakaya, with plenty of bus stops for attractions if you're not driving. The common room is pleasant for hanging out, with free consoles and a decent kitchen if you want to cook. I worried the rooms might be small, but mine was comfortable. The rooms and beds were comfortable, service was good, and the location was convenient. For the price, it's highly recommended. I'll stay again next time I'm in Beppu.

We've been back for a second visit after discovering this place a year ago. It's a rare pearl. The staff, from reception to the room staff, have always been kind, ready with advice or a friendly hello. The property is very well maintained, and the rooms and bathrooms are spotless. The atmosphere feels relaxing and familiar, with little decorations and music around the place. Guests can use a fully equipped kitchen, kept tidy with signs pointing out various things. Free coffee, tea and soft drinks are available. There are coin-operated washers with detergent and dryers at a very reasonable price, 300Yen for a wash and 100Yen for 20 minutes of drying. Usually two tokens leave everything very dry. Everything is clean and orderly. In the common area there are lots of suggestions for onsens, including private onsen reservations, and places to eat. The information is clearly there to help guests relax. The receptionist speaks English, has always been kind, and can also be reached by email. It feels safe and we sleep very well here. The location works perfectly for us. Buses to various attractions stop in front of the tower on the seafront, just a 30 second walk away. The station is an 8 minute walk. For a walk or run, the seafront is close and there's a lovely park 1.5 km away. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, 7 11 and shopping centers nearby. We recommend this place wholeheartedly and can't wait to return :)
