The kitchen was clean and had dishes, a microwave, kettle, and fridge, plus thoughtful extras like disposable chopsticks, drip coffee, and tea. There was also a large bathroom, washing machine, and a simple clothesline, so I think it could work for a longer stay. The house was warm and comfortable in winter, with heaters throughout. It's all electric, so you can't use the bath in the morning, though that wasn't a problem for me. I was in Biei for a stay arranged by a friend. The room had a separate bedroom and a roomy living and dining area. Three people with suitcases had plenty of space, with two beds and a futon in the living area. There aren't many restaurants nearby, so reservations may be a good idea. A convenience store is within walking distance, which helps if restaurants are full.
The washing machine came with genuine brand-name detergent and fabric softener, and the movable clothesline was a nice bonus. We could cook our own meals, and there was a convenience store within walking distance. The whole place felt like a model home, clean with no signs of age or wear, and tastefully decorated. We had the entire single-story house to ourselves, with a spacious dining area and separate bedroom. It felt like staying in a rental villa or condo, and I wish I could live somewhere like this. Great for couples and families with children. A couple of things to keep in mind: the house is built like a two-family home, and some walls adjoin the owner's residence. The second floor, where the dining area is, is also the owner's living space, so you can't make unlimited noise. Avoid excessive noise late at night, inappropriate behavior, or letting children run wild or cry uncontrollably. It is a residential area.
The landlady was so kind that I felt comfortable throughout my stay. For a low price, you get a whole luxurious floor, and it gave me the feeling of living in a luxurious home. The morning sun was wonderful, and for the first time in decades I started the day feeling refreshed. I could park right in front, which made coming and going easy. I couldn't tell from the reviews or the official website how the rooms were laid out, but it's very spacious. The bedroom is separate, the living and dining rooms connect, and the kitchen is roomy too. The bath has plenty of space to stretch out. The toilet is a Panasonic foam interface washlet, which seems difficult to maintain. Biei nature photos are casually displayed on the walls and look tasteful. The high chair is by Katoji, and the dishes and cooking utensils were neatly arranged, though I didn't use them. It's easier to get in and out of than a hotel, so it seems suitable for families with children. I didn't go, but there's also a pub near the station. Since the house is all electric and the water has to be heated late at night, you can't take a bath in the morning. Thanks very much. At first I wondered why nobody seemed to recommend this place.
I cooked my own meals, since supermarkets and drugstores are nearby if you drive. There weren't many places to eat out, even though the house is close to the station. I couldn't decide between Asahikawa and Biei, and in hindsight, I chose wrong because I realized I didn't really need to stay in Biei. It's a beautiful house with parking on the property, which was reassuring. It's all electric, and although I'm no appliance expert, the machines looked like they might be the latest models. I could do laundry, but there was no drying option. I'd still recommend it to people who want to stay in Biei.
The landlord is friendly, and I really like this house. It's very clean and affordable, with parking right at the door, and only a three-minute walk from Biei Station. I've also stayed in another house in the suburbs, which was great too. I was very satisfied with both places.
