The meals were a highlight, and the views across the fields from both the room and dining area were lovely. The hosts also helped me out when my schedule was tight, driving me to and from Bibaushi train station. Check-in was easy. Prices vary by season and depend on whether you include dinner and breakfast. Solo guests pay an extra 1080JPY, apparently to cover resources the pension might otherwise earn from having two people in a room. Shikisai flower farm is a five-minute walk away, and check-in comes with a complimentary ticket to the Alpaca farm.

Breakfast came with a window seat and a view, even though our room didn't overlook the valley. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and made with locally sourced ingredients. It's right in the heart of Biei, and the attentive staff and adequate facilities made for a comfortable stay.

Breakfast came with a pretty good view, at least. The room was very ordinary for the high price of 15000yen, and sharing the only bathroom, with bathing limited after 10pm, made for a stressful experience.

We enjoyed the stay, and both lunch and dinner were good. Shikisai no Oka is about a five-minute walk away, or two minutes by car. Ask the receptionist for a coupon, which gets you free entry to the alpaca section and a carpark waiver.

The bathroom situation wasn't great, with just one for the whole pension, and the amenities didn't seem well maintained. Still, dinner and breakfast were good.
