Natsumi No Sato

The owner's blueberry jam is worth buying, made with berries grown right there. This is a quiet, quaint homestay with a really lovely host. She and her mother have decorated the place with handmade pieces, including quilts, stained glass, and mosaics. Knowing some Japanese would help, though the English signs around the house make it possible to get by without it. A wonderful bed and breakfast, highly recommended.

The meals were wonderful, at breakfast and dinner alike. It's a small, very cute pension, and the woman running it was incredibly kind. She and her husband did everything they could to help us feel comfortable, always smiling. If we return to Hokkaido, we'd stay here again. We absolutely recommend it! Patrick and Anna

The hosts were friendly and quick to respond whenever an issue came up. The cottage was clean and cozy, though being close to nature means you may come across insects. Breakfast was a highlight each morning, freshly prepared by the hosts and healthy and nutritious.

I've come back many times on different visits to Biei because you can really feel the local residents' kindness here. The host takes good care of guests, and the meals are delicious, with lots of seasonal local ingredients. The rooms are cozy and comfortable in that very homey way, like being back in my childhood bedroom. She made many of the stained glass ornaments herself, and they're all around the rooms and property. The location works well too, right at the start of the hills but still fairly close to Biei Station. You can walk or cycle from the station outside winter, though in winter I'd take a taxi. If you're driving, the parking area is spacious enough for large vehicles. Highly recommended!
