The guesthouse was warm and cozy in winter, thoughtfully laid out, clean, and well organized. Everything felt convenient, and it was spotless. I'd absolutely recommend staying here, and it'd be my first choice if I return to Biei. The couple running it are warm, patient, kind, and full of humor. Talking with them made me want to work harder on my Japanese so I could have longer conversations. The host is an amazing driver, seriously impressive, and so handsome he looks like a movie star. I especially liked chatting with him about cars. Japanese cars from the Showa era were remarkable, as everyone knows, and he shared fascinating, romantic stories from that time. Those conversations made the stay unforgettable.

A peaceful spot outside Biei's city center, ideal if you want quiet. The owners were friendly and helpful despite not speaking much English. The rooms and facilities were neat and clean, and breakfast was healthy, filling, and refreshing. Great for a short getaway, though getting around without a car would be inconvenient.

The endless fields covered in snow looked magical. I deliberately chose a place away from the stations, though it's hard to judge the location itself.

The service was very good, and there were lovely views all around. We arrived late, but they still served us dinner at 9 p.m. The kids enjoyed playing on the garden swing, and the place felt warm and homelike. Mr. liked telling us about Hokkaido and showed us some old Skyline cars in the garage, sharing their history. Highly recommend staying here!

We stopped at their cafe, where the lavender soft serve was so good we ordered a second one. The coffee was decent, and my friends liked the curry. The setting and views are beautiful. Car fans can also enjoy the highly collectible Nissan (Datsun) cars made famous in 1970’s commercials featuring Ken & Mary. The tree central to those ads is across the road from the cafe/pension, and there was plenty of parking, with tourist buses coming just to photograph it.
