Lequ Okinawa Chatan Spa & Resort

The room was spacious, quiet, comfortable, and reasonably clean. We were in the newer wing, which may have helped. There were some obvious brown marks on the curtains, though, and the toilet paper was 1 ply. The balcony was odd too, with nowhere to sit outside. We stayed two nights in a Deluxe Premium Room, and my three-star rating is about the value. Check-in had a generic big-hotel feel, all transactions and surface-level friendliness, without much warmth or personality. That was a strange fit with the building’s quirky, almost wacky exterior. I was surprised that hotel guests had to pay to use the pool. It’s no Marina Bay Sands, and there wasn’t a pool bar or restaurant to match the extra charge. We also had to pay for bottled water beyond the two-per-day allowance. We weren’t sure about drinking the tap water, so we bought a few extra bottles before noticing the Lawsons in the building sold them for half the price.

The music in the public spaces and onsen was really cheesy and bad. They should spend a little more on a better service. Still, this is a great hotel, the only one I’ve found so far with an onsen, and I’ll definitely come back. The front desk staff were friendly, nice, and helpful. It can be hard to find if you’re new and end up at their other building.

We paid around 19,000 yen for a standard room, and I thought it was worth it. The buffet breakfast had loads to choose from, including some special drinks. The tofu soup and garlic pasta were especially tasty. Our room was big, clean, and nice, and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Free parking, and it connects to Lawson, which is handy.

The Premier feels more like a timeshare, with updated, upscale amenities, while the hotel side is different. It’s tucked beside American Village in Chatan and feels like one of Okinawa’s best-kept secrets. The staff’s English was limited, but their service was exceptional and professional. I’d stay there again and again.
