Toyoko Inn Chiba Makuhari

They called to say it was check-out time, so I woke up, showered, and heard call after call. Someone even came to my door, though only 20 minutes had passed since I got in the shower. When I went to return the key card, which I didn’t even have to return, they charged me 1000 yen for an extra hour even though it had only been half an hour. The whole morning experience made me so mad that I went back to the room for another 30 minutes just to prove a point. The staff were very rude.

I always choose Toyoko Inn when I visit Japan. The room was clean and comfortable for two, and the breakfast is amazing every time. 🩷

The price was nice, and the location worked well with the shuttle service. It’s more of a local hotel, but as tourists we really liked having easy, affordable train access. The staff’s English wasn’t great, so we used a translation app to get through check-in and check-out.

The room was very clean and practical, but quite small, with barely any space for bags and only a few hangers. There’s a big desk, a boiler and a small fridge. Pick up room items like toothbrushes, razors and tea bags from the lobby. The free Wi-Fi worked well, and there’s a washer by the lobby. Parking is available, but it seemed to fill up quickly. Check-in and check-out can be done at the automated machines. The reception clerk was kind and spoke a little English, and there’s a free shuttle to the nearest train station. Breakfast is served in the lobby, but the choices weren’t to my taste. There wasn’t much for drinks or bread, so I skipped it and went to the convenience store next door.
