Hotel Yuzan

Dinner was really satisfying, with lots of different dishes and everything tasting good. I brought my 5-year-old grandson, and there was an extensive children’s menu for him. The facilities are old, but for the price I can’t complain, and they still have the feel of a fine Showa-era hot spring inn. Togura Kamiyamada Onsen is amazing. The water comes directly from the source, and the milky sulfur springs felt very soothing. It was a memorable trip.

The room was spacious enough to fit a table even with the futon laid out. It still has a Showa-era feel, but updated facilities like individual air conditioning and a washlet toilet meant no inconvenience. The indoor bath was the only one, but it was well kept and the spring water was good. Dinner wasn’t fancy, but the seasoning was good and it tasted nice. Breakfast, with pickles, salted salmon, miso soup, mentaiko and the like, seemed too salty. I would’ve liked a little sweetness to balance those flavors. Service felt within budget, perhaps because only a few people were running the inn. Given the low price, I rated it below five: food 3, bath 4, service 3. I think it suits locals looking for a casual stay more than tourists coming from far away.

I went for a day-trip bath, and parking is available right in front of the main entrance. The facilities generally felt old. The water was about 40 degrees and didn’t warm me up much on a cold day. The changing room was cold too, and some heating would be nice. There were hair dryers, a rest area, and cold tea, so the service was nice.

I visited on August 18, 2025, while going around the baths at the sister hotels. The timing must have been just right because I had the bath to myself! (*'-'*) The water was a lovely green, the temperature felt just right, and the soak was great. The staff were kind and polite as well. It was my second bath, with another one still to come, so I was careful not to get too hot or stay in too long. Before heading on, I had some delicious iced tea in the lobby. The retro gramophone was lovely too! (ﾟ-ﾟ)!
