Comfort Hotel Takamatsu

We stayed here twice on our trip, and both visits were as expected. The hallways and walls seemed to block sound reasonably well, or the hotel was simply quiet, but the windows didn't do much against traffic and ambulances outside. Breakfast had a decent range: salad, yoghurt, soup, Western and Japanese dishes, udon, bread, cornflakes, and smoothies. The cream soups were amazing. I liked breakfast, though after two days the flavors felt repetitive even when some ingredients changed. There's a parking area below or beside the hotel for around 1,000 yen or more. Cheaper overnight lots are nearby or behind it. If you have luggage, you can stop at the pricier lot to unload first, then move the car. I think the expensive lot uses tickets and you tell the hotel, but I wasn't sure how it worked. The cheaper ones have barrier gates. This is a budget-friendly Japanese business hotel in a handy spot: right by the airport bus stop, three minutes from a supermarket, and about a 20-minute walk from Ritsurin Garden and the train station. The staff were friendly, with limited English, though that shouldn't be an issue unless you need help. Check-in and checkout are done at a machine. Tea and coffee are available from the drink machine near reception. There's a self-service luggage area by reception with about 20 suitcase spaces and 20 bag lockers. Amenities are limited: pajamas, a comb, a shoe-polish bag, and cotton buds are there, while toothbrush and toothpaste are in the room. I booked a standard double, which wasn't very big. It should be fine for a short casual trip, but large suitcases could make it feel cramped. The floor outside the bedroom was easy to roll luggage across. I was carrying two large suitcases and moved them without trouble. The room had reusable slippers only, so I brought my own. The pillows were very flat compared with other hotels, but reception can provide another pillow or a foot pillow. There were USB sockets by the bed, plus a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and face and hand wash in the bathroom. If you're worried about a suitcase being overweight, you can ask the front desk to weigh it for you.

Nishihara was especially lovely and helpful, going out of his way to make sure I had what I needed. He helped me plan how to reach the Art Islands on time and arranged taxis very early in the morning, before any were available. The staff made me feel safe and cared for, and I could tell they wanted me to have a good time. Highly recommended!

Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included with plenty of choices in a cozy dining area. Rooms are small, which is normal in Japan. The hotel is right in the city center, about 150 meters from a shopping street. Several small nearby car parks have low fees, so they're a better option than the hotel's own lot, run by Times. After the hotel discount, its overnight rate is JPY 1400, down from JPY 3400, which still seems crazy expensive.

We spent 10 days here, and the service, rooms, facilities, and location were all wonderful. The hotel was impeccably clean, and the strong AC was essential in summer. The breakfast offered a full menu, though it got repetitive. I also appreciated the coffee and tea station that was open all day, and the laundry facilities were great. The smoking room in the garage area was very clean too. Front desk staff spoke English and could help with restaurant bookings and taxis. Shops were close by, with many parks, gardens, and restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommend this hotel.
