Riverside Uedakan

This is the best hotel.

It's good!

Our suite had a constant flow of hot spring water, and the room was clean with a beautiful view. The service was great too, and restaurants and a foot bath are within walking distance. We stayed several days, and the buffet was the same each time. I wish there had been more variety. It would be nice to have a fancier spread on weekends or different dishes on alternate days.

We had a lovely view of the Chikuma River from our 6th-floor room, and the large bath on the 8th floor also looked out over the river. It was a relaxing spot. There was just one open-air bath, rotated between even and odd days. The post-bath relaxation area was small, but we could go onto the balcony to enjoy the mountain view and breeze. Both dinner and breakfast were buffets, with just the right amount of choice for us. We enjoyed the all-you-can-drink alcohol at dinner. The "Overflowing! Giant Fried Shrimp and Authentic Shrimp Doria Fair" came in a cute little cocotte, and the regular dishes were nicely presented and seasoned just right for us. We stayed on a weekday and used the Itoen Hotels Line Friends Week coupon, which took 1300 yen off per person. Check-in seemed to begin around 2 PM, but that was only for the check-in procedures. From about 2:50 PM, they started taking karaoke and table tennis reservations in check-in order. Reception hours vary even across the Itoen Hotels chain. There are underground parking areas with height limits and parking along the riverbank. You can reach the riverbank parking from behind the hotel, a 2-3 minute walk away. There's a putting green and plaza by the river too, making for a pleasant morning stroll with views of the Chikuma River. The building is old, but the view and food were great, and it was well worth the price. We had a comfortable stay and would definitely come back.
