Kyo no yume

The room and bedding were stained and a bit dirty, which added to a disappointing stay. We were there for four days in Kyoto last year. The hot water quit working the following day, and people were on the roof in the middle of the day without us knowing about it. We were [hopefully] just doing some work. Nobody told us anything. We had questions and ran into problems but got no answers. We contacted Airbnb to ask them to reach the host, and even they seemed baffled and couldn't get hold of anyone. A very disappointing experience, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The blue tarp is still on the roof, though it seems to have been moved somewhere less noticeable. It doesn't look like there's a plan to fix it. If I were staying overnight on a trip I'd be disappointed to see it. I'm not sure if the roof has been repaired, but the tarp has been removed.

Jujo subway station is super close, with convenience stores nearby, so getting around was easy. The room was spacious and had a kitchen, washing machine, and an old-fashioned electric motor. There was a lovely little garden too. Thumbs up!

I liked the place and think it would work really well for a family trip. There was a slight smell, but wooden houses often have that, so I don't want to make too much of it.
