A nice hotel with great taste 😘

Our room had an open-air bath, and I’d read other reviews saying the strong sulfur smell was a good thing. It was really strong, making the bath feel even more like a hot spring than I expected. The water was just the right temperature, so there was no need to adjust it or add cold water. The food was satisfying overall, especially the in-season matsutake mushroom dobinmushi in an earthenware pot and matsutake tempura. The president came to greet us during dinner, which made me feel the inn was run with care. Having a TV in the room during meals was a big plus because it let me relax. There are only five rooms in the whole building, so it’s quiet, which is appealing too.

With only five rooms, it’s quiet and easy to relax without running into other guests. It’s a great place for a couple to unwind. Unlike Oedo Onsen, there’s no need to deal with crowded dining or noisy children. The free-flowing indoor and open-air bath is available whenever you want a soak. Front desk staff are attentive while still giving you a comfortable amount of space. The inn is far from the hot spring center, which makes it peaceful, but there’s not much nearby and it may be hard to explore the town at night. We had a great time at its sister inn, Kameya Ryokan.

I’ve visited Togura Kamiyamada Onsen three times, but had never stayed somewhere this lovely with such a strong sulfur smell. The hot spring was so good I wanted to stay in it forever, even while sleeping. I’d go back if I get the chance. Dinner was tasty, and breakfast was too. I was a little sad that dessert at dinner was jelly. Seasonal fruit would have made me happier. With only five groups allowed, it was quiet and peaceful. Thank you so much 😊
