I liked the traditional Japanese house style, but the staff’s professionalism needs work. On January 3 around 3:00 PM, I came back to collect luggage I’d left there before heading out. I used the restroom briefly, and the staff member on duty was extremely rude, telling me directly to “get out here.” I hope management improves staff training and their approach to service.

We stayed in December 2023 before climbing Yatsugatake the following day. It got pretty noisy in the evening, but I fall asleep quickly, so it wasn’t a problem for me. We arrived quite late and still managed to have something to eat in the bar area. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

We had a big room for six and a large garden where we could have a BBQ together before 10 PM. But there was no key or locker for the room, so anyone could come in, and there wasn’t a bathroom or WC inside either. I didn’t feel safe at night. The car park is about 50 metres away, on the main road.

The owners were so nice and accommodating. This is a great hotel and pub, and a good base for setting off on hikes. The accommodation feels modern while still keeping a traditional character.

The bar was really well stocked, and I had a lovely evening chatting there. The owners don’t speak much English, but Google Translate helped us get by.
