Guesthouse Pension Hello Wood

We were there for a fireworks show and stayed at this guesthouse high in the Nagano mountains. The couple running it made us feel so warm and welcome, and I’d love to go back if I get the chance. Our room was simple, basically just a bed, and the three of us were comfortable enough. Since it’s in the mountains, insects can get in, so be careful about leaving windows open at night. The couple’s husband cooks, and meals are served in the first-floor living room, which has the feel of being at home. Breakfast and dinner are included, and the landlady’s mother is sure to keep the conversation flowing. There are hardly any convenience stores or other facilities nearby, so bring what you need. Prices change with the season, but even with a last-minute booking, we paid around 4,000-5,000 yen per person for two meals. Great value, especially since meals are included.

A nice way to finish my trip. The food was delicious, and the conversation was fun and relaxing. It was great for a solo getaway 😊🌃, with the Big Dipper looking so close in the night sky, almost within reach.

I stayed here while snowboarding and had a great time. Thanks so much for being so kind to me. I’d love to see the lovely grandmother again!

Traveling alone, I still felt comfortable and could really unwind. The food was delicious too.
