Amenohi To Yuyake

The service felt condescending. There were bugs crawling over the dinner plates, which was upsetting. The hotel is small, with nice rooms but no view. It offers free gelato, coffee, and tea, plus free access to an Onsen at another property about a five-minute walk away.

We stayed in early June, and the staff member we dealt with was attentive and incredibly helpful. The dinner and breakfast service were wonderful, and the amenities were fantastic. There’s tasty free gelato and self-serve coffee. Although there’s no Onsen in this building, guests can use the sister facility’s public and private Onsen, and the staff member booked a private one for us. The rooms showed some wear, but they were clean, comfortable, and stylish.

The room was nice, and breakfast was good. Coffee and tea were available free all day and night. But the hotel was not very supportive. I tried several times to reach them to book the shuttle from the JR station, as required, and got no answer. It’s far from the community, which makes things more difficult in winter. There’s no Onsen in the hotel; staff told me I’d have to use one at another hotel. I was quite surprised by that suggestion when the temperature was below zero.

The bar was great, with everything free and self-serve. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was nice, though it may need a refit before too long. The problem is food after 1800hrs. They don’t serve dinner, and there’s nowhere to eat in Shikotsuko then. The nearest food is in Chitose or Tomakomai, a 30-minute drive each way. We booked on the day, which may explain why dinner wasn’t available. We still had a pleasant stay.
