Hotel AreaOne Chitose

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the room I booked for two felt like a single with an extra bed squeezed in. That didn't seem reasonable. The hot and cold water kept swinging between extremely hot and cold, too. The hotel itself is quite old, so with all that, I wouldn't really recommend staying here.

Five minutes from the airport, so it works well for a quick crash before a flight. The rooms were clean, the beds soft, and the staff didn't waste time. You can shower, pick up a Lawson beer, and be on your way. Handy for one last Hokkaido ramen run before flying out.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes around, and the hotel has free parking, an airport shuttle, a restaurant on the second floor, groceries and vending machines in the lobby, plus access to a next door izakaya from there. It also has a small public bath on the sixth floor. The women's bath is locked, with a key given at check-in. I booked a single room and had plenty of space, including room for luggage. There aren't USB ports, but there are lots of power outlets, including one in the headboard. The room lights and AC can be controlled from the headboard, with three lighting settings. It's a good business hotel, about a five-minute walk from Chitose station and a 15-minute drive from Shin Chitose airport.

The room was clean and pretty decent, though the bed was a bit small for two. The kettle was the hot-pot type, which was a little disappointing. It's about a five-minute walk from Chitose station. We arrived before check-in and asked the staff to hold our luggage. When we came back, they'd already put it in our room, which was a nice gesture. Good for a budget stay, and the free airport shuttle takes about 15 minutes. You need to book it in advance.
