JR Inn Chitose

The room was clean and comfortable, and the coffee machine on the second floor makes good coffee. Best part was the free made-to-order breakfast, which tasted great.

We had a great stay. The location is right beside Chitose station, and the rooms were clean and bigger than at some other hotels, with space for our three large suitcases. The lounge on the second floor is cosy, with a coffee machine, tea options, and manga. You can choose a hard or soft pillow and different fillings from the lobby. There's a restaurant next door with a lobby side entrance, and the Japanese food was great. Checkout is at 10 am; we paid ¥1000 per hour for a two-hour extension. One thing to watch for: the ground at the hotel entrance was icy in December, so walk carefully.

We picked this hotel for its location beside the train station, since we had an early flight the next morning. There's no airport shuttle, but that wasn't a problem: the station is literally next door, less than a minute away. Check-in through the self-service machine was easy, and checkout was just as simple. We only had to leave the room key card in the box at reception.

You get more than you pay for here, and I loved the place. It's right beside Chitose station, so really convenient. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, with separate sections in the bathrooms. The public bath was great and clean, and the soundproofing in the room was excellent; I could hardly hear the train next door. There's a good selection of pillows, a library, and a nice public area to relax in. Highly recommended.
