Khaosan Chitose Family Hostel

The main downside is that it’s not near Sapporo, so it really suits an airport stop. For the price, though, it’s good value and conveniently close to both the airport and train station. The staff were super friendly, we got upgraded to our own room for free, and the kitchen was well equipped with things like oil and tea. Free green tea was especially welcome in the cold, snowy weather, and toiletries and a hair dryer were provided too.

We stayed in a private standard double room, and it was clean, comfortable, and had its own bathroom. The staff were great about helping us figure out how to reach the airport, even calling a taxi at an unusual hour. It’s a little over a 10-minute walk from the station, but easy enough to find since it’s right off the main road. Check the main website for facility details and the check-in instructions.

The room was spacious for what we paid, and there’s a cosy shared area with a kitchen. Shops are close by, and getting to the airport by bus or train is easy and inexpensive. The service was very good. Towels and similar items can be rented for 50 yen.

The kitchen was huge, with loads of utensils and other equipment. Our room was clean and spacious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and spoke English really well. I’d definitely recommend this hostel to travellers.
