The onsen overlooking the river was great, and everyone on staff was so kind and helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay and such good memories. I hope I can come back soon!
The room is right beside the train tracks, so expect passing trains to wake you early.
I stumbled across this place on a spontaneous overnight trip with no real plan. After visiting Fukuroda Falls, I walked to the station later than expected and was trying to figure out what to do in the dark when I spotted a sign by the road. The staff were very polite, even though I’d arrived late, and kindly said, “You must be cold.” I paid 6,000 yen for a room only and stayed in a single in the new wing. The facilities there were what you’d expect for the price, basically a standard business hotel. The lobby had autographs and paintings from different people, and the building seemed to have some history. I liked its down-to-earth, Showa-era feel. A heads-up about the area: the hotel is on a rural road with few streetlights, and there are no convenience stores or restaurants within walking distance. The nearest convenience store is about 15 minutes away on foot. I went out alone at night with a flashlight to buy a snack, but I imagine that wouldn’t feel possible for a woman. Even with my phone map, I got lost. There’s only a drink vending machine at the hotel, so it would be nice to have a basic convenience store. The bath wasn’t a natural hot spring, but the radium water felt refreshing. Since I was the only guest, I had a comfortable stay. It was a last-minute stop, so I can’t complain. The staff’s kindness is what earned this rating, and it’s an inn I’d like to support in the future. Thank you for the hospitality!
The room was a little dated, but clean, and I had no trouble during my stay. I was briefly puzzled by the magnetic type of safe, but it worked fine. The staff were attentive and thoughtful, giving the inn a warm, welcoming feel without any special services. I’d consider staying again. I drove, so I can’t say how close it is to the station, but getting there seemed fairly easy. I was visiting Fukuroda Falls, which is a reasonable drive away, though not especially close. The Suigun Line runs nearby, and it’s nice hearing a train pass now and then. It’s a single track with trains only once an hour.
