Daisen View Heights

There were more than ten stink bugs in my room. I didn't come here to deal with them, and hotels really should manage insects in their rooms. Maybe I'd recommend this place to someone who likes stink bugs. I didn't get rid of my tiredness, but I did get rid of the bugs. 😠

I stopped in for hotcakes at lunch on my first visit. The staff were very polite, and the view was lovely, though the wait seemed long.

This was my first stay on this side of Oyama, instead of near Oyama-dera Temple or Masumizu. The hotel had a welcoming feel and gave me space to do my own thing, while being ready to help if I asked. The big public bath uses tap water, but it felt soft, like mountain water, with no chlorine smell, and I found it very comfortable. They open a small bar in the evening if you reserve. I was incredibly comfortable here, and it'll definitely be my regular place when I visit Oyama now and then (lol).

The building's age is understandable, so that part was fine. But on the stairs down toward the bath, there was a horrible smell, like mold mixed with dampness, and it was really hard to bear. The food was puzzling too: the local chicken? had lots of undercooked parts, and the soup tasted watery. There was also an eerie painting that didn't fit the room and made me feel scared. The staff, though, were very kind.
